✈THE HISTORY ABOUT HUARAZ

The province of Huaylas, together with the provinces of Conchucos, Cajatambo and La Costa, made up the department of Huaylas, which in 1839 was renamed the department of Ancash. Huaraz, called "The very generous city" in 1823, was the undisputed capital of Ancash, since it had also been the capital of Huaylas since it was a Spanish corregimiento. When the province of Huaraz was created, with its capital Huaraz, on July 25, 1857, Caraz was elevated to the capital of the province of Huaylas.

Laguna Paron Day Trip from Huaraz

Tour to Parón Lagoon in Huaraz is an excellent option. Located in the Ancash region, the Paron Lagoon is one of the most impressive destinations in the Peruvian Andes. During this tour, we will take you through the most impressive landscapes of the Andean mountain range until you reach the Parón Lagoon. There, you will be able to admire its natural beauty and enjoy the scenery of the highest snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera Blanca.

ITINERARY

At approximately 8:30 am we will depart north of Huaraz, passing through the picturesque villages of the Callejón de Huaylas, and arriving at the city of Caraz (2290 m.a.s.l.). In Caraz, we will take a detour to the east on a dirt road, enter the Parón Valley, pass through the Huascarán National Park control and arrive at the Parón Lagoon (4185 m.a.s.l.). Parón is a turquoise water mirror with a depth of 76m and 55 million m3. A perfect scenery to observe the snow-capped mountains of the Cordillera Blanca: Paria, Artesonraju (the logo of Paramount Pictures), Pirámide de Garcilaso, Pisco, and Chacraraju. We will enjoy beautiful landscapes surrounded by queuñales (plant of the rosaceae family), ichu (a kind of straw) and orchids. We will return to the city of Caraz where we will have lunch (lunch not included). We will visit the Plaza de Armas of Caraz and its famous dairy factories. We will arrive in Huaraz at approximately 17:30 hrs where we will leave you at the hotel of your choice.

Glacier Pastoruri and Puya Raimondi Full Day Tour

Tour to Nevado Pastoruri and puya raimondi is the best option for you. This tour will take you through the most impressive landscapes of the Peruvian Andes, to admire the majesty of the Pastoruri snow-capped mountain and the beauty of the puya raimondi plant, one of the largest and longest-lived plants in the world.

ITINERARY

After breakfast, we will leave the hotel to start our journey to the southeast of the Callejón de Huaylas to the snowy Pastoruri, where we will live an adventure on the ice. We will pass through the towns of Recuay, Ticapampa and Cátac (the gateway to the Callejón de Huaylas). We will visit the duck lagoon (Patococha), the Pumapampa sparkling water fountain, the Pumapashimin lagoon, the Puya Raimondi (representative plant of the Andes) and cave paintings. Finally, we will walk for about 45 minutes until we reach the Nevado Pastoruri (5240 m.a.s.l.) to enjoy the snow-capped mountain and observe the frozen lagoon. After this wonderful day, we will return to Huaraz around 17:30 hrs.
