HISTORY ABOUT PUNO ,

Puno is a city in southeastern Peru, located on the shore of Lake Titicaca. It is the capital city of the Puno Region and the PunoProvince with a population of approximately 140,839 (2015 estimate). The city was established in 1668 by viceroy Pedro Antonio Fernandez de Castro as capital of the province of Paucarcolla with the name San Juan Bautista de Puno. The name was later changed to San Carlos de Puno, in honor of king Charles II of Spain.

Puno is an important agricultural and livestock region; important livestock are llamas and alpacas, which graze on its immense plateaus and plains. Puno is situated between the shores of Lake TItacaca and the mountains surrounding the city. There is less than two miles of flat land between the shores and the foothills, which has caused the growing city to continue to expand upwards onto the hillsides. As a result, the town's less developed and poorest areas, which are high on the hillsides, often have very steep streets, which are generally unpaved and cannot be accessed by automobile.

DESCRIPTION

Take the opportunity to explore the largest navegable lake in the world, Lake Titicaca. On this guided tour, you will visit the famous man-made islands of the Uros dating back to pre-colonial times and then dive with the locals on the island of Amantani.

ITINERARY

Approximately at 07:50 hrs, we will transfer from the hotel to the port. Approximately at 08:15 hrs we will depart by boat "Titicaca Express BIA" to the south of the island of Taquile, where we will arrive at a paradisiacal white sand beach.
Approximately at 12:00 a.m. we will arrive at the Capacheca Llachón peninsula, where we will be introduced to a cultural experience, we will see their dances, traditions and we will be able to participate in an ancestral ceremony.
For adventure lovers, optional kayaking along the coasts of Llachón.
We will depart from Santa Maria and at approximately 15:40 we will arrive at the island of Los Uros Titono, located in the Lake Titicaca Reserve, considered one of the last floating islands.
Approximately at 4:30 p.m. we will be back in Puno, where we will leave you at your hotel.
